WISDOM TEETH REMOVAL IN DALLAS, TX

Wisdom teeth are the final set of molars to develop in the back of the mouth. They tend to cause problems because they're too large to grow in properly. Our doctor recommends early removal to avoid any issues.

Hear From Wisdom Teeth Removal Patients Like You

Wisdom teeth can become impacted, or stuck beneath the surface of the gums, rather easily, which can result in more serious health problems. Our oral surgeon can determine if your wisdom teeth pose a threat to your oral health, and if so, he will recommend a plan for extraction. These patients will help you understand what to expect from treatment, and you can hear about the high-quality care we always provide.

Common Complications

Third molars are especially susceptible to complications because most patients' mouths are too small to accommodate their growth. When the molars don't have enough room to erupt properly, they often get stuck, causing impaction. Impacted molars will start to grow toward your healthy molars because it's the only way for them to keep moving. And because patients cannot clean them when they are impacted, they usually result in infection. Once infection forms, it's easy for more severe problems to arise. Below are some of the biggest problems associated with impaction and infection:

It's important to monitor their growth so you can prevent the above problems from occurring. Regular visits to your dentist are the first step. Dentists are trained to identify signs of their growth, and when they do, they will refer you to our oral surgeon. When you visit our office, our doctor will determine if you require extraction. The cost of wisdom teeth removal is determined by many factors. Please consult you doctor.

Procedure Process

The treatment process differs with every patient based on their individual needs. Some factors that can affect your procedure include how many need extracting, the type of anesthesia you choose, and whether they are impacted or fully developed. Visiting our office for a consultation appointment is the first step. At your consultation, our doctor will discuss all your options with you, review your health history, and take any necessary 3D scans. You can return home after we have determined the best plan for wisdom teeth removal and provided you with pre- and post-operative instructions.

The next time you come in will be for your surgical appointment. Removal can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. If you choose IV anesthesia, you must have a responsible adult drive you to and from the office and remain in the office during the procedure. Your oral surgeon will administer your anesthesia before carefully opening the gums to expose your molars. He will remove any bone or growth that may be blocking the extraction path before extracting the third molars. In some cases, he will break them into pieces to make for a smaller surgical site and an easier extraction process.

After the extractions, your doctor will stitch up your gums and wait for your anesthesia to wear off before sending you home with your driver. Upon returning home, you should follow your post-operative instructions for an easy and comfortable recovery. Most patients report not even needing pain medicine and being back to their normal daily routine within several days. If you have any questions regarding your post-operative instructions, our office is always happy to help. Our goal is to ensure a quick healing period and optimal results.
