Rachel Reid, DDS
Meet Dr. Reid
Dr. Reid was inspired to pursue a career in oral and maxillofacial surgery after witnessing the life-changing impact of orthognathic surgery on a friend. She was drawn to the hands-on nature of the specialty and its ability to improve a patient's life, whether through placing dental implants, treating facial trauma, or performing reconstructive work. The most rewarding part of her profession is seeing the immediate and lasting impact on a patient's quality of life, from relieving pain and restoring function to helping someone regain their confidence.
Patients can expect to be treated with patience, empathy, and clear communication from the moment they walk in. Dr. Reid takes the time to listen to each patient's concerns and works with them to help calm their nerves, and utilizes all the tools at her disposal to ensure a comfortable and positive experience.
Education and Residency
Dr. Reid began her academic journey at Southern Methodist University, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Biology in 2015. She then attended the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 2020. Following dental school, she completed a non-categorical internship at Louisiana State University New Orleans OMFS in 2021 and her intensive residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Indiana University in 2025.
Certifications
Dr. Reid is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Earning this certification exemplifies Dr. Reid’s extensive knowledge of the biological practices of the oral and maxillofacial specialty. To remain certified, she must keep up with the latest techniques and continually prove her skills and expertise.
She is also a member of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) and maintains certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Outside the Office
Outside of work, Dr. Reid enjoys being outdoors, playing golf, practicing Pilates, traveling, and needlepoint. A few fun facts about her: she used to be a competitive horseback rider, her life goal is to visit all the national parks (she's at 7 so far!), and the longest surgery she has ever performed was 17 hours long.
